Join us at San Antonio Book Festival this weekend!

So many books, so little time.

On Saturday, I will be both an author and a reader (two things I seldom do at the same time). I’m privileged to be among the authors who’ll speak at the 5th Annual San Antonio Book Festival—one of the USA’s fastest rising book events—about our bestseller MORGUE: A LIFE IN DEATH, with my friend and forensic expert Dr. Vincent Di Maio. But as a lover of books, I’m also delighted to spend time with authors whose books we all know and love.

Like “Longmire” author Craig Johnson, a fellow Wyoming guy who has clearly elevated our native state to something of an exotic location for murder and mayhem.

Or Jeff Guinn, a fellow Texas author and journalist who has lately been revisiting some of America’s greatest crime figures in blockbusters like “Go Down Together” (about Bonnie and Clyde) and “Manson.”

Or maybe Ann Patchett (left) whose novels “Bel Canto” and “The Patron Saint of Liars” should be on every reading
list. She’s not only an author, but a bookseller, too. Bless her heart.

Or “Lonesome Dove” screenwriter Bill Wittliff. Or Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist Lawrence Wright. Or my friend and former Austin Film Festival director Maya Perez.

The list goes on and on! Admission is free all day and participants can choose from a seemingly bottomless menu of author discussions, demonstrations, and debates about all things books! Most will be signing their books, and all will happily spend a few private moments with readers. If you’re a book-lover and you’re in South Texas this Saturday, you shouldn’t miss this remarkable event.
